Students in 5th grade classrooms created presentations in Keynote about the qualities you should look for on a website while conducting research. Students worked with a partner, found a variety of website examples for each quality, and finally narrated a presentation with their partner and exported the presentation as a movie to share here online. Please watch, learn, and let them know what you think by leaving a comment! Be sure to click here or click "Read More" below the first presentation to see all of the videos!

Students in first grade learned about non-fiction features recently and then created a diagram in Kid Pix. Together we watched a BrainPOP Jr. movie about forests and students created their own diagram of a forest. They painted the background picture, added appropriate forest stickers, labeled at least three things in the diagrams, connected the labels to the item with a line, made a large title, and finally placed their name in a corner. Check them out! Room 106Room 102 Kindergarten students created a painting in Kid Pix of a landform. We learned about landforms together by watching a BrainPOP Jr movie and having a group discussion. Students used a variety of paint tools and mouse controls to draw the horizon outline, fill in the areas with the paint bucket, add appropriate stickers of things found within their landform, and used the keyboard and text tool to add a title and name. Enjoy! Room 003 Room 001 6th grade students created music in GarageBand and connected their original sounds with images to produce an audio-visual montage. The connection between the music and the image is intended to create a certain mood or feeling in the audience. Some montages attempt to maintain one singular mood while others hop around to a variety of feelings. Enjoy and if you're struck by any or all of them, please leave a comment and share what mood you got from watching! (below) Students in 8th grade used their digital painting and graphic design skills to create the Burley School Digital Showcase header images you see displayed at the top of this page. Photoshop was used to create the designs. Room 203Room 2057th grade students in Rooms 201 and 202 brushed up on camera procedures and focused on capturing a variety of wide, medium and close-up macro photographs around the Burley playground from a unique and fresh perspective.
Both classrooms of 7th grade students created nameplates using digital painting tools in Photoshop. Students focused on layering a variety of brush styles along with text showcasing their names. The various "images" you see are all brush styles from Brusheezy.com to use in Photoshop. Students attempted to represent a part of their personality visually in their design. Room 201 Room 202 Students in both 1st grade classrooms created digital paintings of various computer parts using Kid Pix software. They chose an item to create after watching a BrainPOP Jr about computers. In Kid Pix, students practiced mouse use (clicking, double-clicking, click-and-drag), adding and typing text, and the computer functions of printing and quitting the software. Room 106 Room 102 During the first Technology classes of the year for 2nd grade students, we discussed the variety of topics they will be learning about in homerooms and in Technology class. Students then chose one topic they were particularly looking forward to and created a painting in Kid Pix illustrating that topic, often attaching a fact they already know or a question they have related to the topic. Room 104 Room 105 During the first Technology classes of the year for 4th grade students, we discussed the variety of topics they will be learning about in homerooms and in Technology class. Students then created a one-page comic about what they were looking forward to in 4th grade using Comic Life. Photo Booth was used to add their own photo to the comic and Picsforlearning.com was used to find all of the other images. Room 303 Room 304 |
